Pondering...
I've been doing a lot of pondering lately and I thought I would share 2 of my favorite scriptures. Some of you have heard me talk about these scriptures before, but doesn't hurt to be reminded...cause I've had to remind myself.
"Behold I stand at the door, and knock; if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with me." Rev. 3:20
"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." Ether 12:27
When I read the first one I think of the picture of Christ standing at a door that doesn't have a door knob. I love that it says Christ isn't just standing at the door waiting for us to open it, he is there calling to us, beckoning us to open the door so he can bless us and help us. It is up to us to actually open the door and ask him for help. But he is always there for us.
We all have weaknesses but I love knowing that we are able to overcome anything we are dished, we just have to ask for the Lord's help. It's amazing that he can make them become our strengths. It's scary to think about the devil's power and how many different ways he tries to deceive us. But something that has always stuck out to me in the temple, is when Christ says that Satan has the power to bruise our heels but we have the power to crush his head. That just reiterates the promise the Lord give us, that he will not leave us and that with his help we have the power to overcome anything. It has always humbled me to realize that no matter how many mistakes I make, the Lord still continues to bless me. He loves us, I don't really know how anyone can deny that! Just needed to remind myself that no matter how hard things may seem in life, the Lord understands and is there for us, wanting to help us and comfort us.

Another week...
Well another week gone. Its hard to believe that its almost been a month since I moved to Salt Lake. Man time goes fast! I made it through another week of school. I am still way excited about it...its awesome! The benefits of massage are incredible! Anatomy has become so fascinating to me and increases the more I learn. Our bodies are seriously amazing! It is a little overwhelming to realize how much we really will be learning...not that I'm afraid of passing the class, just nervous about how much there is to retain to be able to pass my national exam. I have been getting 9.5/10 on all my quizzes though...I'm gonna get 10/10 this week! You would all be proud too, Ive actually been studying regularly...something I never used to do! Ha! At least its interesting to me, makes it way easier to learn and remember. We started a few more classes, Acupressure, First Aid/CPR, and Reflexology. Acupressure is interesting but I think Reflexology interests me more. I love that Im learning so many different types of massage techniques so I can incorporate it all into what I like and into what will help each person I work with. We are learning Swedish Massage right now. So far we have learned Effleurage, the most basic lengthening and relaxing technique. Along w Petrissage which is the kneading and lifting technique...feels oh so good! :) Mads did get to benefit this week from my practice. I did some basic relaxing reflexology on her feet...gotta get all the practice I can! I cant wait to get my table so I can really practice everything Im learning. Its hard to do it wout a real table cause I dont want to get into any bad habits of my positioning. I am trying hard to do things right w my body so that I dont create pains or problems for myself. Its nice that they teach us how to preserve our own bodies so we can massage for as long as we want.
Sorry to report that school has pretty much been my life...at least during the week. I have a date tonight w one of Marlon's friends..should be fun! We are going to a corn maze or haunted house or something. Gotta get in the mood for Halloween! Not sure what Im gonna be this year yet....any ideas?

Memory Lane...
Saturday night I was invited to go to a Bday dinner for an old friend Enrique. When I first moved to Provo and lived w Kate, Kelsie, Dana, Hannah and Heidi, we lived across from a group of guys that we were like best friends w. We have so many fun memories from that year. The whole group was there. I rode down w Ben, a girl he is barely starting to date, Eric and his girlfriend of like a year, Asia. We met up w Enrique, Dan and his kid, a couple of their other roommates and Ben's brother Ryan showed up later too. It was so fun sitting there w those guys cause like usual they just sat there telling stories of pranks they used to pull on each other. It was fun to be the only girl at the table that remembered most of them. They are all doing really well and all asked about the other girls. I gave them all the update. I made sure to take pics so all of you girls can see them and their women and I'll give you an update on what their up to these days.

Blue Moon....not my friend! :(
I will share with you my sad car story from the last 2 days. So I get out of school, ready to go home and oh my car doesn't start. I of course find some nice guy to jump it and it starts but as soon as we pull the charge off, it dies again. Of course we are thinking alternator here, but another guy looks at it and they decide that its possible its not and my battery is just completely dead. So we get it going enough, that I think I can drive it to an Autozone and get a new battery, yeah it makes it to the first intersection and dies again. So my roommate comes and picks me up, we get a battery and the guy said he would change it before class the next day. So this morning I get dropped off at school, sit for 30 min for the guy, he finally gets there changes it...and YEAH...its just my battery! So the Blue Moon, as much as I hated her yesterday, is running strong again! But because he was so late, he almost made me late for school, which is a big no no. Because I was so flustered and rushing to get in class on time...I end up leaving my purse locked in the car, w my keys, cellphone, and wallet! Yeah...great! Just slit my wrists please! Oh, story not over....my roommate Mads, works 4 blocks away, luckily. So on my lunch, I attempted to walk to her office, which took me an hr cause I couldnt remember the exact location. She was on lunch, so I sit at her desk writing her a letter and she walks up, VERY surprised to see me there...haha! So I tell her the sitch and we call Loni, other roomie, to bring my spare key to school. Luckily because of my awesome roommates, when I got out of school I was able to get in my car and drive home! Whoo hoo! Man, what an ordeal w the Blue Moon though! Haha.. cross your fingers for no more!

Survived my first week!
Well today is my friday for school. I made it through my first week! We only had school 3 days this week because of good old Columbus. I just have to tell you that I really like school right now...I know...its just as shocking for me to say it as it is for you to hear it! Who would have thought I'd ever like school! I have school mon-thurs from 9am-5:30pm...so we are very full time. After the first 8 weeks it will change to mon-wed and then either sat or sun for clinic, where I actually start massaging the public. We have 2 classes a day, each one is 3.5 hrs and then we get a nice 1.5 hr lunch break. So far I have started 2 classes, Anatomy and Massage Basics 1. I am SO pumped about deciding to do this and become a massage therapist! I finally have something that I am becoming more and more passionate about and it will be part of me and my own thing! Awesome! And honestly, who would have ever guessed that I would be so interested in the human body?! I love my anatomy class! It excites me to actually learn it all and apply it to massage. I will be learning even more than I realized. Its fascinating when you start to learn about how much they are realizing massage helps in over all health and in modern medicine as well. These days a lot of it is going hand in hand. I even have more respect for it already.
All the teachers seem to really be great. My anatomy teacher is so freakin awesome....not to mention hot! ;) Haha. But is a great teacher because he doesn't just want to make us memorize a bunch of stuff, he teaches it in a way that we learn it, understand it, and remember it. He is great at relating things to other things in life so its easy to remember too. He makes it more interesting w all his little facts he adds in. I did my first massage today, and received one too! Its nice that at school I get to receive a massage every day too! In no time I'm gonna be the best massage therapist you all know! So be excited! :)
Some of you will be excited to know that I hung out with Ben Blake last night. He invited me to a play at the U of U his work gave him. It was so good to see him and remember all our freakin awesome Glenwood days when we all lived by them! He is seriously such a great guy and a total gentleman. Its great to have him around and living in my same complex. More good times to come!

October....already?
I honestly cant believe that its already into the 2nd week of Oct. Honestly where did the year go? I survived my first week at my new place in Salt Lake. Its been good to see and catch up w some friends I haven't seen forever. Both my roommates ditched me for our first full weekend in our new place, so I had to figure out my own things to keep me busy. I did however end up going on 2 dates this weekend, which were both fun....but don't get too excited.
I will say that it is FREEZING up here! I hung out at my friend Dana's, eating and watching conference while laying in bed, all day yesterday. It was so fun just to hang w her like the days of being roomies...I miss her as a roommate! But we sat and watched outside as it rained and eventually snowed, ALL day! It was freezing! My poor little body is so used to the blazing heat of St George that Im not sure how Im going to survive this winter. Im SO NOT looking forward to more snow and freezing temps.
It was also a birthday weekend! Happy Birthday to my mom, yesterday, the 6th! She is the big 60 now! Its so weird to think she is that old....that just sounds older to me and I still dont think of her as being that old. I'm grateful for my mom and all her uniqueness! Today, the 7th, is my BFF Jared's Birthday! He is the big 26! He came down and around for his birthday, so I was happy to see him. I went down and hung out with him and his family for half the day. It was so good to see him again. I miss having him around more. Happy Birthday Jared!
Conference weekend was good too! I have to admit, I didnt get to see all the sessions, so I will have to be catching up on those. Its exciting that Elder Erying is in the new presidency. I have always really enjoyed his talks. I love all the inspiration and motivation to be a better person and better align my life w the Lord, that conference brings. Its great to always feel like things have been said just for you and what you are needing. The Lord definitely speaks to us all in many ways. And isnt it amazing that he can speak to all of us at the same time, w the same words, but it means so many different things to each of us.
So my time of relaxing and getting settle comes to an end tomorrow. I dive into school on Tuesday! I am really excited! A bit nervous, just cause its a new adventure in my life and I havent been in school for awhile. But I know it will be a good thing for me, and Im excited to get started and learn! These hands are going to be works of art in no time! Haha! Wish me luck! And for those of you I havent seen yet or havent talked to lately, better talk to ya soon!

All moved in!
Well I actually did it...I made the move up to Salt Lake. Loni and I loaded up her parents trailer and our cars fri night and headed out early sat morning. I was a little behind so I was going fast trying to catch up to Loni...I finally did and then oh what do you know, I got pulled over! Stupid cops! He of course gave me a ticket...not a suprise to most of you, but I actually hadnt gotten a ticket in so long! Once we got to about Beaver, it was starting to look like winter and we werent happy about that....the heaters got turned on. Then when we got to about Spanish Fork it started raining pretty good and most of the drive through Utah County to Salt Lake was raining/snowing so hard that it was hard to see. So yup....we moved all our stuff in the rain/snow! It sucked so bad! It was like the worst day to move ever! We were so mad, cause we had left 90 degree weather for this and we showed up in t-shirts and flip flops. Its going to take a lot to get used to this cold! We were lucky enough to have some help carrying everything up 3 flights of stairs so it didnt take too long for everything. Thank you to everyone that helped! So we are now in our new place, in Holladay. We are just getting things unpacked and organized. The apt isnt too bad, but we have definately been spoiled for the last few years, so its going to be an adjustment. We figure it works for school though..then we can figure something else out. I did however add up how many times I have moved since I left home after high school.......18!!! Can you believe that....no wonder Im hard to keep track of! I have also had over 35 different roommates, some of which have been more than once. I am definately more ready to settle down and stay in one place these days. The move is still a bit hard for me, but I know it will be a good thing. SO everyone that I havent seen forever...Im back and ready to play w you again!!!
